Subject: Crochet for fun

Comment: my granny taught me to knit when I was little but I could never do anything with it... just squares. When my dad remarried my step mom taught me to crochet using SC and not in rows but in rounds. I made my first baby blanket when I was 14 and 1/2. it was for my little brother. It was very ugly but I was real proud of it. When I was 19 my mom taught me DC and I made a couple scarfs with it... but I wanted more. So I went to the library and got a book and learned some more stitches and I also found this site through a friend. I visit this site once a day almost. And now I am 23 and I have made 4 baby blankets(including the one for my brother) 7 pairs of baby booties, 3 new born hats, and 2 bibs. I even made a cute case for my removealbe stereo face plate in my car! I dont plan to stop for a long long time! Thanks!

Subject: Looong project

Comment: I started crocheting a tablecloth in 1966, when I was 16. Once babies and work and more schooling came along, it was shunted to the back of the closet, and has been moved from the west coast to the east coast to the south twice each. Anyway, now that life is slowing down a bit, I pulled it out to finish (I have 11 1/2 rows of 12 complete). Problem is, counting the stitches, which is how I originally took off the pattern, is much more difficult with older eyes. Bingo! The internet! I was so pleased to find the pattern on here so I don't have to guess. And while I finish, I think about the changes in 40 years. Wow! My phone dialed, my clock had hands, my tv was black and white. Who'd have thunk I'd use a wireless connection on my own computer and print out the pattern when I was 57?

Subject: Hi!

Comment: It's amazing how many kids my age I've discovered that crochet in the past, oh, five minutes. My name is Grace and I'm 14. My mom taught me to chain when I was 11, and I've been hooked (no pun intended) ever since. It's good for stress, and I love it!

Subject: Daily Routine

Comment: Every day when I get up, I check my email and my bank account and checking this website. It has become one of my "have to" on my daily list. If I don't check it at least once a day I'm lost all day. Thank you so much for having a place I can enjoy this much.

Subject: crocheting helps my hypertention

Comment: I've known how to make a chain since I was 10. But last year, I picked up some yarn, went to my Aunt (who can make anything!)and she showed me a few other stitches and off I went. I have made blankets, afghans, bath items, etc. I love it. It relaxes me and helps my blood pressure stay under control.

Subject: I love crocheting

Comment: My name is Paige and I am 15. I started crocheting quite a few months ago, and haven't stopped since. I first came up with the idea to start crocheting when I was wondering around the store one day and just happened to spot some instruction books on crocheting, grabbed a cheap hook, and a couple skeins of yarn and I was off! I had a little trouble at the beginning, but I talked to my step-sister (who I found out crocheted blankets) and she helped me with a variance of a hdc stitch, and I started with that once she showed me. But I started looking on the internet and found a pretty cool purse pattern, and I have one almost completely finished (except for a decorative strap) and I just started one that I am half-way done with. And I can finish this one because I have enough yarn. That's been my only problem so far, is that when I first got my yarn, I got two skeins of different colors that didn't go together, and I didn't think to look for what i wanted to make FIRST then get the yarn (either of the three times I've been to the store to get yarn) so I have to get more yarn for the almost-finished purse, and then I'm going to finish this project and then I'm going to start on an a blanket or two...
Crocheting really relaxes me and I love to do it. My family keep asking me when I will finish something, but as much as I like crocheting I haven't had the materials to finish anything yet, until now. But, for me, it really isn't about finishing a project and telling everybody "Look what I made!!" But more just to relax me with something I like to do, and it suffices me just fine, even if I haven't finished a project just yet! :-D ...
But thank you for all the neat things to make on this site that I can choose from!!
~ Paige

Subject: Enjoying crochet

Comment: I taught myself to crochet when I was 19, but never got past the chain and single crochet.

This past Christmas we found out we're expecting baby #3 September 2007, and I decided to pick up crochet again to make some baby things. So far I've finished a gorgeous blanket, two hat and booties sets and a couple of sets of scratch mittens. Right now I'm working on another blanket as a gift for a friend who just had a baby, and I have several items I plan on donating to Afghans for Angels when finished.

I'm relatively young for a crocheter, but I've never worried about what is or isn't "cool" or "old-fashioned." It's enjoyable to share crochet with others.

Subject: A Shawl

Comment: Wll at my school we were going to a convention where all the schools meet. There are many categories to compete in, such as athletics, board games, academics, and needle and thread. I competed in many categories and one of them was needle and thread. I started to make a blanket. But, it turned into a shawl. I but a button on it and got 4th place.
Thanks,
Rebecca

Comment: I learned to crochet from my grandmother as a first or second grader. Did a lot of crocheting things like afghans as a kid, but let it slip away once I got to college. I finally started really crocheting again a few years ago when my daughter and her cousins wanted ponchos. Since then I have found this site and used many patterns as starting points for my work. Started making baby blankets for my mom to give to friends and relatives too and even used the blanket Grama made for my daughter as a pattern for one I made for a cousin's new baby. I've even won ribbons at the county fair for my crocheting. Pretty good for someone who still holds her crochet hook funny nearly 40 years after Grama taught me to do a chain stitch, ripple and granny square.

Comment: I teach crochet here in Ks. I always tell the people I teach about your site. They all love it. One of the groups I teach are military wives. Your patterns have helped them make time go by a little quicker while husbands are deployed. Thank You

Subject: Crochet in the islands

Comment: I have been crocheting for more years than I care to admit. I live in the Caribbean and don't have much use for blankets, scarves or ponchos. Also, yarns are hard to find here. My friends are constantly amazed at what you can do with butchers twine (great rug material), jute (wonderful free form baskets) and even, lately, plastic shopping bags which make useful door mats, reusable shopping bags (cuts into your raw material though:-) and beach bags. Old clothes cut into strips make rag rugs. Have even made an interesting hammock using palm fronds split and braided for yarn. Keep an open mind when you are looking for a new project.

Subject: So nice to be here...

Comment: I have been knitting and crocheting for years...I still remember my Nana Bea teaching me how to make slippers (the ones with the pom-poms on top)when I was a little girl. Anyway, I just had to say that I have never felt surrounded by more wonderful and generous people as I am while browsing though the pages of Crochet Pattern Central. I love you all!!

Subject: gifts

Comment: Once I was in a craze of knitting (before I learned how to crochet) and wanted to make a present for my friend's birthday. I tried to make some earmuffs, but they wouldn't keep their shape. So I just gave her a giftcard.

The next time she came over, she saw the abandoned earmuffs and asked me if I had made them. I said yes and that I was going to give them to her, but didn't think she would like them. To my surprise, she picked them up and asked me if she could have them. She still does!

Subject: CROCHET

Comment: Hi, I am a Late Bloomer, I taught myself to Knit and to crochet by doing alot of searches for stitches online- I Find it very relaxing, and even though I can not hardly read some of the patterns out there LOL I am however able to look at a stitch and do it for some odd reason :) You might say crocheting keeps me sane with all the things going on out there in the world :)
