Sunday, December 17, 2006Name: Cheryl Doussept Subject: Tip Comment: I have a good tip when your giving an afghan as a gift to your mother or friend before you wrap it stick a bath bomb as they call them but leave it in the plastic wrap or it will break up and make a mess but they smell so nice I recently bought some for my daughters christmas stocking and you can smell them through the plastic and they are inexpensive I bought them at my local dollar store I only paid a buck for 8 of them...........happy crocheting to you all!!! Friday, December 15, 2006Name: sara Subject: hook Comment: The large mini m&m tubes make great holders for hooks and they come in alot of colors. The regular size also makes a good holder for needles. Thursday, December 14, 2006Name: Yolanda Subject: Storage Comment: I have just begun to learn to crochet and the first thing I noticed was it was very easy to misplace your crochet hooks. So I decided to kill two birds with one stones. I needed to practise my stitches and I needed a case to carry my hooks, so I made a small carrying case. Wednesday, December 13, 2006Name: Josephine Subject: Never give up!!! Comment: a little tip for the beginners to the advanced crocheters. for example if you are learning a new stitch or are doing a really confusing pattern NEVER GIVE UP!!!! keep trying and it will work out in the end. I am 12 yrs old and i gave up at one stage because it was hard for me to learn single crochet. I kept getting confused and gave up. a while later i picked up that hook and tried every night until i got it right. now i can do many things and i am currently crocheting a hair tie. I refuse to give up this time and i plan to keep crocheting no matter what!!! Monday, December 11, 2006Name: June Subject: New stitches Comment: I find dishcloth patterns are the easiest way to 'get to know' a new stitch. I have a book of all different dishcloth patterns and have used it on many occasions to learn new stitches. If a mistake is made it doesn't matter on a dishcloth. In learning a new stitch, you are creating a dishcloth too. Monday, December 11, 2006Name: Jessica Subject: Tangled Yarn Comment: Make sure your yarn is rolled up in a ball before you start to crochet a project. If it's not in a ball of yarn, it will soon get tangled. Monday, December 11, 2006Name: Mackenzie Subject: Ends Comment: Instead of weaving in my ends I just crochet over them. I am 10 and have been crocheting since I was 8. I have tons of supplies and yarn and thread. I made this about 8" across filet snowflake and it was so easy! Thanx Saturday, December 09, 2006Name: Vicky Subject: project bag Comment: The big bags that you get your to-go meals in from KFC work great, they are big enough for your project and yarn not to mention they already have holes in the sides to run your yarn thru. They are clear so you can see exactly what you have in them. I have one for each project. Thursday, December 07, 2006Name: Cheryl Doussept Subject: storing yarn Comment: I have a good tip some of you may already do this or not but when you are storing your yarn away well I store mine for the summer because I have no time to crochet or knit in the summer I store it in a comforter bag with a couple of dryer sheets then in the fall when I have time to get back to crocheting or knitting my yarn smells really fresh just thought that I would share this with you all Monday, December 04, 2006Name: carolyn newman Subject: yarn Comment: to keep the cat out of my yarn i have 2 liter pop bottles, the plastic ones.i slit the side of the bottle slide in the skein of yarn run the yarn through the top screw on the lid when not in use.it works great. Sunday, December 03, 2006Name: Sandra Heinrich Subject: slipery crochet hooks Comment: I wrap a rubber band around each handle of my steel crochet hooks to get a better grip. Sunday, December 03, 2006Name: cherri Subject: tips Comment: I seen on this travel RV show a woman took a coffee can and pierced a hole in the lid and stuck the yarn thru it so when she traveled it wouldn't roll every where!! Saturday, December 02, 2006Name: Elissa Subject: Handy travel items Comment: I keep my most used crochet items in a small ziploc (from air flights to quickly show my scissors as a kiddy pair with rounded blades). A paper tape measure from Ikea (free) folds up to fit and weighs almost nothing. I can easily see what tools I have when I grab up my things to take along on trips. Thursday, November 30, 2006Name: Maggi Morrison Subject: Storage Comment: I store a few hooks and my yarn needles with the pens by the phone in a small drum which once held tea bags. The hooks sit there happily with the pens and are easy to find. The needles tend to drop to the bottom, BUT I know where they are! Select A Page Share your own hints by filling in the form below...
