Name: kelly Subject: I am in love Comment: I love crocheting it is so much fun Name: Renee Subject: crochet Comment: OKAY!!! A few years back I taught myself to cross stitch and I loved it. I never dreamed that I would be able to crochet. But one day I was at my local Wal-Mart, picked up some needles, yarn and a self-instruction booklet and about a year later and several stitches later I'm here to say that I love crocheting as much as cross stitching. Working a full time job as a receptionist in a very busy dental office and coming home to a house full of work itself, both of these hobbies relax me and give me a break from the daily grind. I am glad that there is a site out there in www land that gives us all these different patterns to choose from. Anytime that we want something different we can always find it here. Name: Matthew Subject: Crochet Comment: Im a male and ive been crocheting for lil over 10 years and i know a few patterns of what my mom taught me but its amazing of what you can make with a skein of yarn. But my problem is that if i look at a pattern i cant make the Project i get so confused and some of the stiches im not sure how to do but i guess that will all come in time but i wish i really could find something that could teach me on how to do these stiches that pattern requires to do and then i probably could do it. Well i think more men should try to crochet and its fun relaxing and its not really to make a chain making a chain is the simplest thing and then from there you could make about anything with a chain. well have fun Name: Cheryl Doussept Subject: Front and Back Post double crochet Comment: I just recently learned how to do the front and back post double crochet which I never knew how to do I have always loved the crocheted basket weave afghans couldn't do it til one day I stumbled across some crochet stitch videos over the internet and actually watched the lady do it then I tried it and it worked out great so here is my tip never give up keep trying different crochet stitches and also look for crochet stitch videos online they are very useful they help alot Name: Harry Subject: Men can crochet too!! Comment: I see most of your stories are submitted by Female readers, I just want to say more Males should try crochet!! I am 53 years old and always wanted to try something like knitting or crochet. But I was afraid what people would think of me. But one day as I waited for my friend at dialysis I saw two women crocheting. I thought I CAN DO THAT. And I decided the heck with what people would say. So when I went to the store I bought yarn and a hook. I was amased how easy it is to crochet. Within a couple days I made several items. And they came out good. If any of you know men that seem to be even slightly interested in what you are doing with your hook and yarn please encourage them to try it. I wish I started years ago. It is so relaxing. Bye Bye, I have a lot of catching up to do. Name: Jim Subject: Cross Pillow Comment: hi i just got done finishing the Cross Pillow. i love this project. i embellished it though instead of leaving it plain. i added crocheted flowers on it in shades of purple. it came out great. i made it for my aunt and uncle. my uncle is a preacher and i thought this would be a nice accent to their home. i'm going to make more with different colored flowers. thanks for the great pattern. Name: Sarah Subject: Crochet for fun Comment: my granny taught me to knit when I was little but I could never do anything with it... just squares. When my dad remarried my step mom taught me to crochet using SC and not in rows but in rounds. I made my first baby blanket when I was 14 and 1/2. it was for my little brother. It was very ugly but I was real proud of it. When I was 19 my mom taught me DC and I made a couple scarfs with it... but I wanted more. So I went to the library and got a book and learned some more stitches and I also found this site through a friend. I visit this site once a day almost. And now I am 23 and I have made 4 baby blankets(including the one for my brother) 7 pairs of baby booties, 3 new born hats, and 2 bibs. I even made a cute case for my removealbe stereo face plate in my car! I dont plan to stop for a long long time! Thanks! Name: Joy Slaven Subject: Looong project Comment: I started crocheting a tablecloth in 1966, when I was 16. Once babies and work and more schooling came along, it was shunted to the back of the closet, and has been moved from the west coast to the east coast to the south twice each. Anyway, now that life is slowing down a bit, I pulled it out to finish (I have 11 1/2 rows of 12 complete). Problem is, counting the stitches, which is how I originally took off the pattern, is much more difficult with older eyes. Bingo! The internet! I was so pleased to find the pattern on here so I don't have to guess. And while I finish, I think about the changes in 40 years. Wow! My phone dialed, my clock had hands, my tv was black and white. Who'd have thunk I'd use a wireless connection on my own computer and print out the pattern when I was 57? Name: Constance Subject: I love beautiful fashion for Dolls Comment: I am crocheting sense i was 5yrs old ,i did only dollies for a long time and now at the age of 44yrs i am loving to buy dolls and make fashionable pieces for them and like i can not get enough. my dream is to get the pattern for Princess Diana outfits and things from the victorian age. Name: Grace Subject: Hi! Comment: It's amazing how many kids my age I've discovered that crochet in the past, oh, five minutes. My name is Grace and I'm 14. My mom taught me to chain when I was 11, and I've been hooked (no pun intended) ever since. It's good for stress, and I love it! Name: Christi Edwards Subject: Daily Routine Comment: Every day when I get up, I check my email and my bank account and checking this website. It has become one of my "have to" on my daily list. If I don't check it at least once a day I'm lost all day. Thank you so much for having a place I can enjoy this much. Name: Tina Dancy Subject: crocheting helps my hypertention Comment: I've known how to make a chain since I was 10. But last year, I picked up some yarn, went to my Aunt (who can make anything!)and she showed me a few other stitches and off I went. I have made blankets, afghans, bath items, etc. I love it. It relaxes me and helps my blood pressure stay under control. Name: Paige Subject: I love crocheting Comment: My name is Paige and I am 15. I started crocheting quite a few months ago, and haven't stopped since. I first came up with the idea to start crocheting when I was wondering around the store one day and just happened to spot some instruction books on crocheting, grabbed a cheap hook, and a couple skeins of yarn and I was off! I had a little trouble at the beginning, but I talked to my step-sister (who I found out crocheted blankets) and she helped me with a variance of a hdc stitch, and I started with that once she showed me. But I started looking on the internet and found a pretty cool purse pattern, and I have one almost completely finished (except for a decorative strap) and I just started one that I am half-way done with. And I can finish this one because I have enough yarn. That's been my only problem so far, is that when I first got my yarn, I got two skeins of different colors that didn't go together, and I didn't think to look for what i wanted to make FIRST then get the yarn (either of the three times I've been to the store to get yarn) so I have to get more yarn for the almost-finished purse, and then I'm going to finish this project and then I'm going to start on an a blanket or two... Crocheting really relaxes me and I love to do it. My family keep asking me when I will finish something, but as much as I like crocheting I haven't had the materials to finish anything yet, until now. But, for me, it really isn't about finishing a project and telling everybody "Look what I made!!" But more just to relax me with something I like to do, and it suffices me just fine, even if I haven't finished a project just yet! :-D ... But thank you for all the neat things to make on this site that I can choose from!! ~ Paige Name: Deanna Subject: Enjoying crochet Comment: I taught myself to crochet when I was 19, but never got past the chain and single crochet. This past Christmas we found out we're expecting baby #3 September 2007, and I decided to pick up crochet again to make some baby things. So far I've finished a gorgeous blanket, two hat and booties sets and a couple of sets of scratch mittens. Right now I'm working on another blanket as a gift for a friend who just had a baby, and I have several items I plan on donating to Afghans for Angels when finished. I'm relatively young for a crocheter, but I've never worried about what is or isn't "cool" or "old-fashioned." It's enjoyable to share crochet with others. Name: Rebecca Subject: A Shawl Comment: Wll at my school we were going to a convention where all the schools meet. There are many categories to compete in, such as athletics, board games, academics, and needle and thread. I competed in many categories and one of them was needle and thread. I started to make a blanket. But, it turned into a shawl. I but a button on it and got 4th place.
