Name: Donna Subject: Crochet as therapy Comment: In the past three years I've been in the hospital twice for surgery. I'd turn to crocheting to help me cope with the stress of worrying about the surgery. I've made so many afghans that I have enough for gifts for family and friends. I turned to this web site for the patterns and chose ones that were easy and I didn't have to really think about what I was doing. Name: Cheryl Doussept Subject: I tried to show my daughter how to knit and crochet Comment: Recently I tried to show my daughter how to knit and crochet but the problem is my daughter is special needs and to top it off she is left handed and that didn't work too well so I was at my local craft store and I came across some knitting looms so I bought them and I showed her how to knit on one she can do it by herself so far she has made a hat on the round loom and a doll blanket on the rectangular loom so here is my encouragement if any left handed have tried to knit or crochet and can't go to your local craft shop and ask for a knitting loom they are lots of fun and easy on the hands if you have arthritis also they are very easy to use just follow the step by step instructions that come with the loom happy crocheting to you all Name: Deb Subject: Hooked on Crochet Comment: Thank you for the wonderful patterns you display here. I have made many of them and am working on a baby afghan for my 4th grandchild now. I am a lefty and could never learn how to crochet when I was a little girl -- I could never hold the hook correctly in my right hand, so all I ended up with was a string of knots. I gave up and then when I was in my 20's my neighbor showed me how I could hold the hook with my right hand any way that felt comfortable to me. I just hold it like I was grabbing onto a stick. It worked! She showed me the granny square and I was off and crocheting like crazy and have been ever since -- 30 years later I can't wait until my granddaughters are old enough to show how to crochet. Your patterns are wonderful for beginners and experienced crocheters alike. Thank you for many hours of fun and for the beautiful handiwork you have inspired. Name: *drea Subject: I'm lovin' it! Comment: I learned to crochet as a child with my great-grandmother. Like most children it was only cool to do with her. I had forgotten everything and really wanted to start back up again, and my mother-in-law taught me 3 weeks ago how to start again. I was working on a pattern and didn't know how to do the stitch, so I GOOGLEd crochet stitches, and I found this site! I LOVE the videos that show you how to do the different stitches. I really appreciate the hard work that has been put into this web-site. In the last three weeks I've completed an afghan, 1/4 of another one, 3 scarves, and I'm excited to start my next project. I find myself not even thinking about snacking in the evening (which is even better.) Thank you again for your awesome work on this website! Name: Christine Subject: Yarn's not just for knitters! Comment: Wow! I am so happy to find a site which encourages my favorite craft! I have loved crochet since I was a little girl and my grandma helped me make my first granny square afghan. (well, she re-did several squares before putting it together, but I still have that first one!). I am proud to say that my 8 yr old daughter now crochets with me. I am so glad that crocheters are no longer looked down upon when entering the yarn shop. I remember visiting a shop years ago and the owner said, "Oh you crochet? If you want to get beyond simple projects, you should learn to knit". Well, I would love to show her the lovely things that I have made that just couldn't have been done with knitting needles! Crochet on! Name: Samantha Subject: Thank You Comment: I started Knitting & crocheting since I laid eyes on my gramma's heart pillow (about 10). I was amazed that how a long string can become such a beautiful thing. From then I thaught myself to knit and crochet and even sew along that way. I went to library and store. But Sumtime never find all the pattern I like in one book. Until I landed here on your website 17 years later. It has so many many different pattern to choose from and to learn from. I learned to pick up hits, skills and ways to creat my own style. So...Thank you Name: JENNIE Subject: ~*~*THANK YOU*~*~ Comment: I have been crocheting on and off for years now. I always started a blanket and then never finished. I would throw my yarn and crochet hooks away and then a year would go by and I would re-buy everything. The problem was, I was giving myself HUGE projects that I was not ready for. To make a long story short, I have found so many neat things to do here and I am so grateful for your page. Thank you for putting in the hard work so we can have fun projects at our fingertips. Name: Sophie Subject: It's a wonderful thing Comment: I find this website to be the best for finding any kind of crochet project you could want. I have been crocheting on and off since I was a little girl, and have fallen in love with it again every time I pick up a hook. So far this year I have made 6 afghans in the past year, with patterns from this site, and it's the best present to give someone you love. Thanks for having such a great site that is straightforward, where everything is easy to find and best of all, free!! Name: Teresa Subject: Thank you for all the patterns Comment: Whenever I want to learn how to crochet something, from mary janes slippers to piggy pot holders, I just go to your site . You guys have everything I look for and everything I need. Thank you for sharing and helping. - Teresa, San Diego CA Name: Lora V. D. Subject: I love this craft!!! Comment: My Sunday School teacher taught me how to crochet when I was about 9. I'm now 11 and have been on the go ever since. The only thing i hate about crochet is that some patterns make you do the same thing over and over for a long time. I wish this site had more ponchos with different stuff for every round. Otherwise, I ADORE this site and LOVE this craft! Name: Debra Subject: Long time crocheter Comment: I'm so glad you have this site. I've been crocheting since I was 12,(my grandmother taught me to get me out of her hair) and I'm 44 now. I've taught many ladies to start crocheting. I work in an alcohol and drug rehab and it does wonders for their self-esteem when they get the hang of it and actually start to create something with their own two hands. Name: Cheryl Doussept Subject: Puff Stitch Comment: I will never curse the puff stitch again everytime I came across a pattern that would use the puff stitch I would always never wanted to do it you see what I do is I take a scrap ball of yarn and I would try the pattern before I bought the yarn for the actual project.........one day I came across a pattern that used the puff stitch it looked so nice in the pattern I wanted to make it so I got my scrap ball of yarn and just chained a few stitches and I started with the pattern the I came to the puff stitch I did it according to the pattern instructions but what a mess they were all messy and they looked awful not as nice as the ones in the pattern so I never touched a pattern again that used the puff stitch until today I said to myself this is it so I picked up my crochet hook followed the pattern and woohoo I finally did it they were all nice and neat and they were all the same size so if you are a crocheter like me who tends to give up quickly don't give up as they say practise makes perfect happy crocheting to you all !!! Name: Ashleigh Subject: Stress Relief Comment: I suffer from horrible chronic pain, and crocheting and knitting have relieved a lot of the stress of calming myself down. Also, the constant movement of my hands has kept them from getting stiff. I've so far finished a scarf, and half of an afghan. It may not seem like a lot, but I'm very proud. Name: Brianna Subject: I'm only 14 Comment: My grandma gave me a crocheting kit when I was about 9, knowing I loved any and every kind of craft, and would try all of them. I tried it and didn't really get it. A few years later, I found the kit, and got a book on crocheting, and starting a few months ago, I picked it back up. It's really fun and gives me something to do when I'm bored or even while on the phone! Name: Judy Subject: i have been crocheting since i was 6 or 7 Comment: This keeps my hands going even when my MS is effecting them. My son came from the Army and while he was waiting to find a job he made three afgans. I taught him after he returned from the army. after he go his own apt. he made another one. He also taught himself how to cross stitch. This was a good theropy for him as he learned to relax doing them and it gave him something to do. Glad to see this place to find different stitches and other things you have on the website.
